The CSU provides Basic Life and AD&D insurance at no cost to you if you are an Eligible Employee. The Basic Life and AD&D insurance becomes effective on the first day of the calendar month following the date you become eligible. Employee-Paid Voluntary Life Insurance

Recognizing that individuals have different financial needs, The CSU provides Eligible Employees the opportunity to apply for Voluntary Life insurance for themselves and their families at competitive group rates. This is in addition to any employer-paid Basic Life insurance already in force.

Some features of your Voluntary Life insurance coverage include:

  • Continuation of Insurance (Portability)
  • Waiver of Premium
  • Right to Convert

You may be eligible to purchase up to $1.5 million of Voluntary Life insurance for yourself, up to $750,000 for your spouse/domestic partner and/or $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000 for your children.
