Campus Traffic and Parking Impacts

Nearly a dozen construction projects will be underway on campus to help enhance university life in support of the Cal Poly Master Plan. These projects range from expanding the Cal Poly Tech Park to enlarging the Administration Building parking lot. During construction, parking lots and traffic patterns will be impacted.

To help faculty, staff and students navigate and plan, the most up to date information on the projects and corresponding parking lot closures and traffic impacts is listed below. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to better Cal Poly.

John Madden Football Center

• Work Timeline: Summer 2023 through Winter 2024
• Parking Impacts: C3 and C4 lots closing mid-July
• Road Impacts: College Avenue 9/21/23 - 11/1/23 and 12/18/23 - 2/14/24

A1 Parking Lot Reconfiguration - LANDSCAPE ONGOING BUT LOT IS OPEN 12/1/23

• Work Timeline: July 2023 through December 2023
• Parking Impacts: A1 parking lot closed throughout project timeline
• Road Impacts: None
• Current Status: Lot is open for parking but landscaping work will continue through December 2023

University Union Renovations

• Work Timeline: July 2023 through September 2023
• Parking Impacts: None
• Road Impacts: Poly View Road closed to vehicle traffic 6/19/23 - 7/7/23

Robert E. Kennedy Library Transformation

• Work Timeline: August 2023 through August 2025
• Parking Impacts: C7 parking lot closed due to serving as a temporary study location
• Road Impacts: None

H4a Resurfacing - COMPLETED 9/11/23

• Work Timeline: August 2023 through September 2023
• Parking Impacts: H4a parking lot closed throughout project timeline
• Road Impacts: None

Various Lot Resurfacing Projects

• Description: Several parking lot projects will also be taking place throughout the summer, involving resealing, re-asphalting, and restriping. The work will be phased, with one lot impacted at a time. The specific dates for each lot closure have not yet been determined. Once specifics have been determined, the project details will be listed above.
• Work Timeline: Summer 2024
• Parking Impacts: G2, H4a, H4d, H4e, C2d, and C2e
• Road Impacts: None
