The Investigations Unit is the investigative branch of the Cal Poly University Police Department. The unit's goals are early intervention through prompt investigations and assisting Patrol Officers in whatever way possible.
UPD Police Investigators conduct follow up criminal investigations and possess specialized investigative techniques.
Members of the Investigative Unit work closely with other local, state, and federal agencies to insure up-to-date distribution of crime trends and to enhance their own investigative skills.
Cal Poly Police Department has one full time Investigator and one part time Investigator.
The Investigations Unit provides investigative support to other department members. Other duties include conducting follow-up investigations and processing evidence. The Investigator acts as the department liaison with other law enforcement and support agencies. Periodically, the Investigator assists Greek Affairs and Judicial Affairs in safety and criminally related issues.
