As of fall term 2009, Cal Poly began exclusively offering its students Federal Stafford and Graduate PLUS loans through the Department of Education's Direct Lending program. As a result, many of Cal Poly's student loan borrowers now have Stafford and/or Graduate PLUS loans lent to them through a bank (loans disbursed before fall 2009 term) and the Department of Education (loans disbursed fall 2009 term and after).
