Student Parking and Permits
Updated March 25, 2026
Cal Poly Maritime Academy students park in designated lots with a valid permit. Refer to the Parking Rules and Regulations for the complete version of the rules.
How to Get a Student Permit
- Verify your eligibility below (continuing students are automatically eligible; first-year students have restrictions).
- Purchase online through your student account via the University Cashier's Office — typically about a month before the start of the semester.
- Display your decal according to the permit display rules.
Permit fees are payable in a lump sum only. There is no deferment for financial aid. A permit does not guarantee a parking space.
Student Permit Types
- Student General (G) — Available to upperclassmen, one permit per student. Access to all campus student-designated parking lots, excluding Maritime North Residence Hall. Includes lower-campus parking during non-business hours (5 pm – 7 am).
- Student Maritime North (MN) — Available only to students housed at Maritime North Residence Hall 24/7 (excluding reserved spaces). Includes Lot-D (lower campus) during non-business hours 5 pm – 7 am. Overflow parking at Lot-O.
- Student Lot-O & Lot-F (OF) — Available to first-year students. Access to Lot-O and Lot-F (Upper Services Road) 24/7 (Lot-F is first-come first-served).
Note: Due to limited space and high demand, students are authorized to have only one vehicle and one motorcycle parked on campus.

First-Year Students
First-year students at Cal Poly Maritime Academy are not automatically eligible to park on campus. Due to extremely limited space and high demand, one of the following conditions must be met before purchasing a student semester parking permit:
- First-year permit lottery — Only 100 permits are available for first-year students in 2026–2027, on a first-come first-served basis. Approved lots are Lot-O and Lot-F. Email parking@csum.edu for review.
- Off-campus housing approval — First-year students approved for off-campus living by Housing and Residence Life are eligible to purchase a Student General permit. Housing sends the approval list to the Cashier's Office so these students can purchase online through their student account.
- Parking Waiver Program — Restrictions may be waived where sufficient need exists (medical, veteran, off-campus employment). Email parking@csum.edu for review.
