Commuter and Access Services is a program coordinated by the University Police Department with a focus to assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors find and use alternative transportation.

Currently, there are over 6,500 bike rack spaces and 224 secure bike lockers available on campus. 57% students and 33% faculty/staff live within 5 miles of the Cal Poly campus; an easy bike commute.

Amtrak buses pick up and drop off on campus for train connections to most northbound, southbound, and the San Joaquin Valley trains. Cal Poly students receive a 15% discount from Amtrak through the Amtrak Student Advantage Program. See a travel agent for details or schedule your trip at Amtrak.

Carpooling (Staff)

Carpool spaces have been established on campus for faculty and staff use. Each designated carpool space will be available to registered carpoolers only until 10 am Monday through Friday.

Cal Poly currently has 11 employee vanpools in operation, with over 160 vanpool riders.

Whether you are looking to register for incentives with your established rideshare, or looking for somebody to carpool with, check out Cal Poly iRideshare. This program also allows ridesharers to get home quickly in case of personal or family illness or emergency. It is available to all faculty and staff who are "registered" at iRideshare. Electrical Vehicle Charging

Cal Poly has charging stations located in the Grand Avenue Parking Structure, on California Boulevard, and in the parking area near Kennedy Library to help you stay charged. Charging fees apply.
