With limited parking on campus and the many alternatives to driving alone, it is not necessary to bring a car to Cal Poly.

Employee Vanpool

Cal Poly currently has 9 employee vanpools in operation, with over 115 vanpool riders.

Zipcar

9 Zipcars are at convenient locations throughout campus and are available to rent by the hour or day.

Looking for carpool options? IRideshare can help match you with an existing carpool or individual looking to carpool. Additional incentives and rewards are available to all faculty and staff who are "registered" at iRideshare.

Amtrak

Cal Poly students receive a 15% discount from Amtrak through the Amtrak Student Discount Program.

Electrical Vehicle Charging

Charging stations are located on campus in the Grand Avenue Parking Structure as well as the parking lot across from the Kennedy Library.

Commuter Services is coordinated by Transportation & Parking Services with a focus on reducing the use of single occupant vehicles and promoting the use of sustainable transportation.

Currently, there are over 7,000 bike rack spaces and 252 secure bike lockers available on campus. In 2019 57% students and 33% faculty/staff live within 5 miles of the Cal Poly campus; an easy bike commute.

A carpool consists of two or more people sharing a personal vehicle to commute to Cal Poly together while splitting the cost of a parking permit. Rally roommates and colleagues to share the ride!

Amtrak

Amtrak buses pick up and drop off on campus at the Amtrak San Luis Obispo - Cal Poly, CA (SLP) stop, supporting train connections to most northbound, southbound, and the San Joaquin Valley trains.
