A collections agency utilized by Cal Poly Transportation and Parking Services erroneously mailed out collections notices to a number of customers.

Mustang Move-In 2026

Mustang Move-In begins Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026. More than 9,200 students will move into Cal Poly housing during the event.

Temporary traffic and parking changes will be in place to support a safe and efficient move-in for students, families and employees. The most significant impacts will occur all day Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Students, Faculty, and Staff: Plan ahead for Aug. 18-19

  • Enter campus only through California Boulevard or Highland Drive.
  • Park only in the designated employee lots listed below.
  • Grand Avenue will be closed from Slack Street to Perimeter Road.
  • Allow additional travel time and follow posted signs and directions from traffic-control personnel.

Employees whose positions allow an alternate work location are encouraged to consult their supervisors in advance about approved options for Aug. 18-19.

Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 19

All traffic and parking restrictions listed below will be in effect all day.

Driving to campus

If you are driving to campus, please:

  • Enter campus only through California Boulevard or Highland Drive.
  • Avoid Slack Street and connecting roads between Foothill Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
  • Allow additional travel time and follow posted signs and directions from traffic-control personnel.
  • Use Service Road between California Boulevard and Perimeter Road; it will be open to all vehicles during move-in.

Road closures

The following roads will be closed:

  • Grand Avenue from Slack Street to Perimeter Road.
  • Perimeter Road between Grand Avenue and Village Drive.

Transit service changes

All Grand Avenue transit stops will be closed Aug. 18-19. All SLO Transit and RTA bus routes will use a temporary stop on California Boulevard next to O'Neill Green.

Employee and student commuter parking

On-campus employee and summer student commuter parking will be limited to the following lots:

Summer resident student parking

  • Students with summer resident permits may park in Structure 131, R3 or R4 during move-in.
  • Beginning Aug. 20, student permit parking is prohibited in staff spaces until after 5 p.m.

Parking facilities closed for move-in operations

Friday, Aug. 21

No road closures are planned. Parking will be available in all normally permitted locations except H-16, which will be reserved for move-in participants. Expect heavy traffic along Highland Drive, Via Carta and Village Drive.

Saturday, Aug. 22

No parking lot or road closures are planned. Expect minor traffic around Poly Canyon Village for unassisted move-in.

Traffic assistance and updates

Directional signs and traffic-control personnel will be stationed throughout campus during move-in to assist motorists and direct vehicles to available parking.
