Video Student Guides

We've developed a series of video tutorials to help you understand Charges, Payments (What to Pay, When to Pay and How to Pay), Registration Holds and even how Financial Aid is applied.

Share My Info

Share My Information is our own reporting mechanism whereby a Mustang Supporter can see similar information that the student sees through their Cal Poly portal. This can include Student Account Balances, Due Dates, Financial Aid and even Grades (if elected by the student).

Money Matters for New Students - Guide

Watch the following videos put together by our Student Solutions Support team to learn about Money Matters in your Cal Poly portal and how to access and/or share financial information with your Supporters.

  • Here our Student Solutions Support Specialists introduce themselves and the video series.

  • A few quick tips on basic charges for Registration-Tuition, Housing and Dining ... and how those balances may appear on Money Matters.

  • Fees post each quarter as students are enrolled in classes, usually with a single due date. Cal Poly offers a Term Payment Plan to allow for a more flexible payment option.

The student must self-enroll (from the Student Center) in the payment plan each quarter after their charges have posted and prior to the Class Cancellation date for the quarter. The Term Payment plan will split the current quarter's Registration and Tuition fees into three monthly payment amounts. Once enrolled in the payment plan, students can easily view and make monthly payments through the CASHNet Online Payment system.

What is it? - The Term Payment Plan affords a student the opportunity to spread out most Tuition-Registration and Mandatory Campus Based Fees into three installments with due dates one month apart. The first due date is always the system-wide due date for that quarter with subsequent due dates one and two months later.

If you want to be in a Term Payment Plan for the quarter, you MUST ENROLL in the plan following a four step process. See the Set Up Guide.

When Is It Available? - You may enroll in the Term Payment Plan during the period from when charges post for the quarter until the Class Cancellation date for that quarter. Due dates are posted on our When to Pay web page.

Set Up Guide - Our Step-By-Step Tutorial can be viewed here - Tutorial.

  • A few quick tips on Housing and Dining Charges and their payment schedule (which is different from Registration-Tuition).

  • A quick overview of the Financial Aid Process - Aid is Offered, Accepted and then Disbursed. What does that all mean? We explain.

  • How to access the Student Payment Portal and make payments for Tuition-Registration, Housing or Dining.

NOTE: The CASHNet Online Payment System has been updated to a new look. Some images in this video may not match exactly what you see in your payment portal. We are working on an updated guide.

  • When you go into the Payment Portal (Student or Supporter), you don't have to pay the full balance. Here's how to make a partial payment towards Tuition-Registration, Housing or Dining.

  • A few quick tips on how to keep your Mustang Supporter connected to what's going on in your Student Account - so they can see what's due when and make payments.

  • How to set up Authorize to Release and provide expressed consent for us to share financial information with your Mustang Supporters.

  • How to set up Share My Information Reports so your Mustang Supporter(s) can see Charges, Due Dates, Financial Aid and more - just like what you see in Money Matters and your Cal Poly portal.

  • How to Set Up your Mustang Supporter with access to their own Payment Portal.

  • When there is a credit balance on the Student Account (either from excess Financial Aid or a personal payment in excess of charges), the credit can be refunded. Setting up Direct Deposit for Refunds insures that the money gets back to the student as quickly and safely as possible.

  • When a financial obligation is past due, a Registration Hold is placed on the Student Account preventing the student from adding or changing classes.

  • If you do NOT have Financial Aid and have a past due balance prior to the beginning of the term, you may be subject to Class Cancellation - and have all your enrolled classes dropped.

  • This video presents an overview of payment options, how charges post to the account and how to manage due dates.

  • An overview of the Financial Aid process and how Financial Aid is applied to Student Account Balances.

  • A quick review of some of the more unique terms used in Student Accounts and Financial Aid and a punch-list of important dates and tasks to start off the fall quarter in good standing.
