Co-chair Marc Cabeliza called the meeting to order at 10:16 a.m.
Review/Approve Meeting Record
The committee reviewed the March 3, 2026 meeting record and unanimously approved it without objection.
Follow-Up Questions – Category II/III Fee (Solano Decisions)
Co-chair Valadez asked for follow-up questions about Category II and III fees. Committee Member Drouin asked how information was communicated to the San Luis Obispo and Solano campuses. Co-chair Valadez stated that communications occurred at Open House and through the website. Committee Member Murphy added that staff in the respective departments and programs were notified.
Informational Item: Firefighter Category III Fee
Co-chair Valadez reviewed the process and needs related to Category III course fees. He stated that Category III fees above $500 had been removed at the Solano campus, and that the Firefighter Category III fee was unique because community members attend and the fee is distributed to Cal Poly Extended, Professional and Continuing Education (EPaCE).
Committee Member Windokun stated that the course is essential for students. Committee Member Aguiar asked whether the student count included community members; Windokun stated that it did not. Committee Member Drouin asked about EPaCE and course requirements. Co-chair Valadez explained the EPaCE acronym and its role. Windokun stated that semester courses are completed by graduation as shown in the catalog. Co-chair Cabeliza asked whether San Luis Obispo students could take the course; Windokun stated that it is offered in person at Solano to all Cal Poly students.
