Improving the Work, is the Work: Creating an On-going Daily Problem-Solving Culture in Higher Education

Improving the Work, is the Work: Creating an On-going Daily Problem-Solving Culture in Higher Education

Often we see improvement as something we must find the time for in our already busy day, or only possible if we launch a full-scale project. But what if you could apply techniques in your own work, that don't take too much time, but require you to see your work a little differently? In this session, with examples from a higher education environment, attendees will learn several foundational principles and practices to incorporate improving the work as an essential daily function. This includes:

  • Learning to see the process found in your work activities and how to break it down based on value for your "customer"
  • Learning basic lean principles and tools that can be applied to improve most processes
  • Learning techniques for having richer problem-solving conversations
  • Learning how to turn ideas into outcomes
  • Note: A recommended session for those who have basic to no experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
