The Green Event Certification helps faculty, students, and event planners create sustainable events and meetings on-campus. The certification aims to educate event planners on potential ways that they can reduce the environmental impact of their events through reducing energy usage, waste, and more.
After being guided through our checklist, event and meeting organizers become eligible for event sustainability certificates. Certificates are awarded based on whether the event organizer has implemented the sustainability recommendations covered in our checklist. There are three levels of certification that can be earned: bronze, silver, and gold. Gold-certified events have implemented extensive policies that drastically reduce their waste footprint. Bronze and silver-certified events have made considerable efforts towards sustainability but still have room for improvement.
