CSU's Got Talent
Stress can affect how students show up in class, at work, in advising appointments, and across campus life. It may appear as missed classes, extra work hours, registration holds, delayed assignments, food or housing insecurity, financial aid confusion, debt stress, or a student quietly pulling away from support systems.
CSU employees do not need to be financial experts to recognize when money may be part of the problem. They do need practical ways to notice signs of financial strain, respond without overstepping professional boundaries, and connect students to the right campus and community resources.
In this session, Jaycob Arbogast, Director of the Center for Excellence in Finance at Chico State, will share how financial wellness connects to student support and professional practice across campus roles. Using Chico State's Financial Wellness Clinic as a case study, he will explain how the clinic was built, how funding and partnerships were secured, and how employees across the CSU can support financial wellness efforts even if their work is not directly tied to financial literacy.
Participants will leave with practical language, referral strategies, and program-building lessons they can adapt to support students on their own campuses.
