Cal Poly Police Department is actively involved in the education, enforcement, and prevention of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
What is Driving Under the Influence (DUI)?
According to the State of California: Vehicle Code Section 23152, in part, states that is it illegal to drive under the influence, having a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher for those over 21 years of age and (BAC) of 0.00 if under 21 years of age.
Enforcement
Our police officers routinely enforce impaired driving laws, and participate in grant funded enforcement programs.
Prevention & Education
Police Department works closely with the Alcohol Safety Committee, which is made up of students, faculty, and staff from the university, community members, and local law enforcement agencies. This committee meets monthly to discuss prevention and educational methods.
Programs
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)
DUI Checkpoints are conducted in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies to arrest drunk drivers.
