Body Worn Cameras
To enhance the Cal Poly Police Department strong relationship with the community, in late August 2018 officers began using body-worn cameras when in the field.
Cal Poly Police Department the camera provides transparency and accountability provided by the cameras’ recordings. Members of the community will see the cameras on the upper center of the officer’s chest.
Through collaboration with our community partners we strive to provide the highest level of service to all who attend, work and visit our campuses. Our approach is to involve students, faculty and staff in our activities and operations. We know we can't do it alone, and we ask our community and visitors to help us create a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy.
It is important that we always seek ways to improve the high-quality service expected of our department. This technology is being adopted by police departments across the country.
Using body-worn cameras is just the latest example of Cal Poly Police Department's efforts to strengthen its relationship with and service to the campus community.
