Emergency Blue Light Phones

Emergency blue light phones are located throughout campus to provide direct access to emergency assistance. Use a blue light phone to request police, fire, medical, or urgent safety assistance when calling from a personal phone is not safe, practical, or available.

When activated, the phone connects to 911/Cal Poly Police Department (CPPD) Dispatch and provides the dispatcher with the phone's location. Stay on the line, describe the emergency, and follow the dispatcher's instructions. If you activate a phone by mistake, stay on the line and tell the dispatcher there is no emergency.

Misuse of emergency phones can delay help for people who need it and may violate law or university policy. For emergencies, call 911 or use the nearest emergency phone. For non-emergency assistance, call 805-756-2281.
