The Cal Poly Police Department (CPPD) K-9 Program supports campus safety through trained police dog and handler teams. K-9 teams may assist with detection, searches, officer safety, public safety operations, and community outreach when authorized by law, training, and department policy.
K-9 teams train regularly to maintain required skills and to support safe, controlled, and appropriate deployments. Deployment decisions are based on public safety needs, legal standards, officer safety, and department procedures.
CPPD may offer K-9 demonstrations or educational outreach when staffing, training, and operational needs allow. To request information about the program, contact CPPD Community Outreach or the department's non-emergency number.
