Skateboard/Bicycle Diversion Class

Eligible people who receive certain bicycle, skateboard, scooter, or similar campus-area citations may be able to complete a diversion education class through the San Luis Obispo Superior Court process and Cal Poly Police Department (CPPD). Eligibility is determined by the court, not by this webpage alone.

If you receive a citation, follow the court instructions on the citation and contact the court by the deadline listed. If the court determines you are eligible for diversion, you may be required to register for class, pay the current class fee, attend the entire session, show photo identification and court paperwork, and submit a completion certificate to the court by the deadline.

Class schedules, delivery format, fees, eligibility limits, and court requirements may change. Use the current registration link or contact CPPD Community Outreach for the next available class and instructions.

Diversion education may cover traffic laws, campus rules, safe riding practices, helmet and visibility recommendations, pedestrian safety, and shared responsibility on campus paths and roadways.
