Live Scan Fingerprinting

Cal Poly Police Department (CPPD) offers Live Scan fingerprinting services by appointment when required by a requesting agency for employment, licensing, certification, volunteering, or other authorized background-check purposes.

Applicants must bring a completed Request for Live Scan Service form from the requesting agency, valid government-issued photo identification, and payment for the rolling fee and any state or federal processing fees required for the specific background check. CPPD cannot complete the service without the required form and identification.

Live Scan results are sent through the California Department of Justice and, when requested, the FBI or other authorized agencies. CPPD does not decide whether an applicant is approved, denied, cleared, or disqualified, and CPPD generally cannot provide results directly to the applicant. Questions about results should be directed to the requesting agency or the appropriate state/federal applicant processing resource.

Fees and processing times vary by application type and may change. Call ahead or review the current fee schedule before your appointment. Applicants who need an accommodation for the appointment should contact CPPD in advance.
