Laser Safety Program

Cal Poly’s Laser Safety Program identifies the requirements for preventing injuries from the use and handling of lasers, including beam and non-beam hazards.

The Laser Safety Program is applicable to all employees – faculty, staff, student assistants, and identified volunteers that work with lasers and may be exposed to their hazards.

All lasers and laser-controlled areas must be evaluated and operated in compliance with the Campus Laser Safety Program. This includes lasers used in labs, classrooms, field locations, and optical fiber communication systems.
