Long Term Disability
CSU provides Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance at no cost to you if you are an eligible employee. LTD insurance is designed to pay a monthly benefit to you in the event you cannot work for an extended period of time because of a covered illness or injury. This LTD benefit replaces a portion of your income, helping you to meet your financial commitments in a time of need. Employees who are not eligible for CSU paid LTD can enroll in a Voluntary plan which has different benefit waiting periods. (See the Voluntary Benefit Plans page.)
If your LTD claim is approved by The Standard, LTD benefits become payable at the end of the 180 day benefit waiting period. No benefits are payable during the benefit waiting period. The Standard Voluntary Life, AD&D and LTD Insurances
The CSU provides eligible employees the opportunity to apply for Voluntary Life insurance for themselves and their families at competitive group rates. This is in addition to any employer-paid Basic Life insurance already in force.
You may be eligible to purchase up to $1.5 million of Voluntary Life insurance for yourself, up to $750,000 for your spouse/domestic partner and/or $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000 for your children.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
The California State University recognizes that individuals have different needs and has provided you the opportunity to apply for the right amount of protection for you and your family at very competitive group rates. Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment covers you or your beneficiaries, in the event of death or dismemberment as a result of a covered accident.
