Premiums for the VSP Basic Plan will continue to be fully paid by Cal Poly for employees and their dependents. If an employee enrolls in the VSP Premier plan, all benefits eligible dependents must also be enrolled or they will be removed from the basic plan.

Flexible Spending Accounts: Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) & Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA)
Important reminder: HCRA and DCRA deductions do not automatically continue into the next plan year. If you want deductions to continue for 2024, you must submit your elections via My Cal Poly Portal during the Open Enrollment period.
HCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect a monthly deduction amount of as little as $20 per month up to a maximum $254.16. per month. For more information, please review the HCRA brochure.
DCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket dependent care expense with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect a monthly deduction amount of as little as $20 per month up to a maximum of $416.66 per month. Nationwide Pet Insurance - Enroll Anytime
Pet health insurance gives you the freedom to use any vet, anywhere, including specialist and emergency providers. Nationwide is offering two benefit option for your pets. This insurance can cover your pet's accidents, illness and even preventative care and wellness services. Plans are available for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotics (such as reptiles).

New Vendor! ARAG Legal Plan - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment
For $16.95 per month, the ARAG Legal plan , provides representation for many personal legal services for employees and their eligible dependents.
For current MetLife Legal Plan participants interested in cancelling coverage, please contact MetLife at 800-438-6388. If active MetLife participants take no action, their coverage will automatically be transferred to ARAG effective Jan 1, 2024.

Voluntary Life Insurance or Long Term Disability Insurance - Apply anytime
The Standard offers Group Life Insurance as well as Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for you and your eligible dependents.
Voluntary Long Term Disability (LTD) administered by The Standard provides loss of income protection (up to 60%) due to a qualified disability. Eligible employees (those not covered by The Standard LTD employer paid plan) can apply at any time during employment.
Group Critical Illness - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment
Group Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum payment to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses and costs associated with life changes following the diagnosis of a covered critical illness. In addition, there are cash benefits for specified health screenings. You and/or your spouse/registered domestic partner must be between the ages of 18-64 and enrolled in a health insurance plan to participate in this plan.
Accident Insurance - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment
Accidents can happen when least expected, and while they can’t always be prevented, you can have the financial support to make your recovery less expensive and stressful. Accident Insurance can help with out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles, copays, transportation to medical centers, and more.

California Casualty - Enroll anytime
The Auto, Home and Renter's Insurance plan offered by California Casualty allows CSU eligible employees to obtain auto and home insurance policies at a discounted rate. All policies are written for a 12-month period. Eligible employees can enroll in this benefit at any time during employment.
Supplemental Retirement Plans - Enroll anytime
Employees are eligible to enroll in the CSU 403(b) plan or 401(k), 457 plans at any time during the year. All plans have a pre-tax and Roth (after-tax) option. Please visit our Supplemental Retirement Plan page for more information and plan details.
Scholar Share - Enroll anytime
A 529 plan is an account that allows you to invest specifically for future education expenses. 529 plans are aimed at helping families save for college. The accounts are administered at the state level, and are managed by a financial services company, TIAA-CREG Tuition Financing Inc. You can open an account with as little as $25 dollars per investment portfolio, or $15 dollars per pay period through payroll deduction.
