Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review, enroll, or make changes in the following plans to be effective January 1, 2022:
How to Enroll
Health, Dental and Flex Spending Accounts (HCRA/DCRA) plan enrollments and changes are made through My Cal Poly Portal. Click here for Step-by-Step Instructions
Premier Vision Plan enrollments and changes are made through the VSP website or by calling VSP directly at 800-400-4569
2022 Notable Plan Changes:
- Health plan rates for many plans are changing
- CalPERS 3 PPO Plans: PERS Care, PERS Choice and PERS Select will transition to two plans, PERS Platinum (Care and Choice) and PERS Gold (Select). If you are enrolled in PERS Care or PERS Choice and you do not make a change during Open Enrollment, you and your enrolled family members will automatically be moved to PERS Platinum. If you are enrolled in PERS Select and do not make a change during Open Enrollment, you and your enrolled family members will be moved to PERS Gold.

- Vision Service Plans (VSP) Enhancements: increase in frame and lense allowances, UV protection at no cost or premium increase and VSP Primary EyeCare Plan which offers screenings and exams for members with diabetes, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration. Will also cover treatment and diagnosis of some medical eye conditions

Cal Poly continues to offer HMO and PPO plans through Delta Dental. Premiums for dental plans continue to be fully paid by Cal Poly for employees and covered dependents.

No Plan Changes for 2022
Important reminder: HCRA and DCRA deductions do not automatically continue into the next plan year. If you want deductions to continue for 2022, you must submit your elections via My Cal Poly Portal during the Open Enrollment period.
HCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect a monthly deduction amount of as little as $20 per month up to a maximum $229.19 per month. .
DCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket dependent care expense with pre-tax dollars. Vision Service Plan
VSP Premier Plan- enroll or cancel only during Open Enrollment
Employees may purchase Vision Service Plan (VSP) Premier coverage as an enhancement to the basic coverage. The VSP Premier plan offers a higher level of benefits for lenses, contact lenses and frames.

Employees may enroll in or cancel their VSP Premium Plan by calling (800) 400-4569 or online at http://csuactives.vspforme.com only during Open Enrollment.
Premiums for the VSP Basic Plan will continue to be fully paid by Cal Poly for employees and their dependents. If an employee enrolls in the VSP Premier plan, all benefits eligible dependents must also be enrolled or they will be removed from the basic plan.

Nationwide Pet Insurance - Enroll Anytime
Pet health insurance gives you the freedom to use any vet, anywhere, including specialist and emergency providers. Plans are available for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotics (such as reptiles). Nationwide reimburses 70% or 50% of every eligible veterinarian bill up to $7,500 a year. There is no network so employees can select a veterinarian of their choice.

MetLife Legal - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment
For $21.70 per month, the MetLife Legal plan provides representation for many personal legal services for employees and their eligible dependents.Services for covered legal matters performed by a Network attorney are fully paid for by the plan. Out-of-Network attorney fees for covered services are reimbursed based on a set fee schedule. The MetLife Legal Plan covers telephone and office consultations for an unlimited number of matters, even if the matter is not fully covered, so long as it is not excluded.

Voluntary Life Insurance or Long Term Disability Insurance - Apply anytime
The Standard offers Group Life Insurance as well as Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for you and your eligible dependents.
Voluntary Long Term Disability (LTD) administered by The Standard provides loss of income protection (up to 60%) due to a qualified disability. Eligible employees (those not covered by The Standard LTD employer paid plan) can apply at any time during employment.
Group Critical Illness - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment
Group Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum payment to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses and costs associated with life changes following the diagnosis of a covered critical illness. In addition, there are cash benefits for specified health screenings. California Casualty - Enroll anytime
The Auto, Home and Renter's Insurance plan offered by California Casualty allows CSU eligible employees to obtain auto and home insurance policies at a discounted rate. The plan also has an identity theft component known as ID Defense. All policies are written for a 12-month period. Eligible employees can enroll in this benefit at any time during employment.

Tax Deferred Savings - Enroll anytime
Employees are eligible to enroll in a 401(k), 457 and/or a 403(b) plan at any time during the year. Please visit our Tax Deferred Savings page for more information and plan details.
Scholar Share - Enroll anytime
A 529 plan is an account that allows you to invest specifically for future education expenses. 529 plans are aimed at helping families save for college. The accounts are administered at the state level, and are managed by a financial services company, TIAA-CREG Tuition Financing Inc. You can open an account with as little as $25 dollars per investment portfolio, or $15 dollars per pay period through payroll deduction.
