The below items are notable changes and enhancements for the 2026 plan year
  • New Pharmacy Benefits Manager CVS Caremark: Anthem Traditional HMO, United Healthcare HMO, PERS Gold, and PERS Platinum pharmacy administrator change from OptumRX to CVS Caremark effective January 1, 2026. Benefits under the plan are not impacted. For more information visit CVS Caremark Pharmacy Benefits.
  • 2026 Annual Flexible Spending Accounts Contribution Limits Increase: Healthcare Reimbursement Account limit $3,300 ($275.00/month) and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account limit $7,500 ($625.00/month). FSA plan participation is subject to a monthly Plan Administrative fee of $1.00 per plan, not to exceed $2.00 per month.
  • ARAG Legal Plan Enhancement: Members will now have access to the Parents & Grandparents Package which includes Caregiving Services, Wills & Durable Power of Attorney, Legal Advice Document Review, and other miscellaneous legal services. Rates will increase to $17.70 per month.

    Vision Plans

    Premiums for the VSP Basic Plan will continue to be fully paid by Cal Poly for employees and their dependents. If an employee enrolls in the VSP Premier plan, all benefits eligible dependents must also be enrolled or they will be removed from the basic plan.

    Flexible Spending Accounts: Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) & Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA)

    Important reminder: HCRA and DCRA deductions do not automatically continue into the next plan year. If you want deductions to continue for 2026, you must submit your elections via My Cal Poly Portal before Oct 10.

    HCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect a monthly deduction amount of as little as $20 per month up to a maximum $275.00 per month ($3,300 annual). For more information, please review the HCRA brochure.

    DCRA is a voluntary benefit plan offering eligible employees the ability to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket dependent care expense with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect a monthly deduction amount of as little as $20 per month up to a maximum of $625.00 per month ($7,500 annual). For more information, please review the DCRA brochure.

    Voluntary Life Insurance or Long Term Disability Insurance - Apply Anytime

    The Standard offers Group Life Insurance as well as Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for you and your eligible dependents.

    Voluntary Long Term Disability (LTD) administered by The Standard provides loss of income protection (up to 60%) due to a qualified disability. Eligible employees (those not covered by The Standard LTD employer paid plan) can apply at any time during employment.

    Group Critical Illness - Enroll or Cancel only during Open Enrollment

    Group Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum payment to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses and costs associated with life changes following the diagnosis of a covered critical illness. In addition, there are cash benefits for specified health screenings. You and/or your spouse/registered domestic partner must be between the ages of 18-64 and enrolled in a health insurance plan to participate in this plan.
