Contracts

Contracts bind the University with outside entities such as suppliers, auxiliaries, government agencies, and community organizations. Contracts include simple items such as a city park use application to complex items such as a construction contract for a new campus building. Other examples of contracts are purchase orders, software license agreements, rental agreements, nondisclosure agreements, leases, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and facility use agreements.

The primary contracting delegations at Cal Poly are to procurement staff, managers, and administrators within Strategic Business Services. For these delegations, and others, see Delegations of Authority.

Contact your assigned Procurement Specialist for assistance with any contracts. University staff, faculty, student assistants, or students who sign contracts might be held personally responsible for costs and liable for injuries or damage. Remember, never sign a contract unless you have a delegation of contracting or purchasing authority.
