CHRS Project Kickoff Announcement
Dear Cal Poly Community,
We are pleased to announce that Cal Poly is joining the California State University (CSU) system-wide initiative to implement the Common Human Resources System (CHRS). This project will unify all CSU campuses under a single, integrated HR platform designed to streamline and improve HR processes.
What is CHRS?
CHRS will upgrade how we handle HR, benefits, payroll and other functions by integrating them into one system-wide platform. This system will provide enhanced functionality, stronger data security and a more user-friendly experience for all employees.
When is it coming?
Cal Poly is part of the sixth and final wave of CSU campuses implementing CHRS alongside three other CSU campuses: Humboldt, Fresno and San Diego. Project meetings began in early 2026, and the go-live date is scheduled for May 2027.
Why CHRS?
Key benefits of the new system include:
- Standardization: Consistent HR processes and reporting across all CSU campuses.
- Efficiency: A consolidated platform for HR functions, reducing manual work and redundancy.
- Security: Stronger data security and privacy protocols.
- Transparency: Employees will have easier access to HR services, making managing personal and employment data more seamless.
Who will be impacted?
CHRS will change how faculty, staff and administrators perform some aspects of their jobs. The system manages data such as budgeted positions, employment, job and personal data.
Enhancing the system will change aspects of self-service, time and absence management, recruitment, benefits, temporary academic employment and more. Further communication will let you know what to expect.
