Horticulture and Crop Science
Launnie Ginn has served as an Instructional Support Technician for the Horticulture and Crop Science Department for the past 17 years. He is a role model for support technicians across campus. He is extremely supportive of students and faculty in his department, as well as the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES). He is the "go to" person for help at the Crops Unit for students, staff and faculty members. Launnie works above and beyond his assignment. He is extremely dedicated to the success of the department and, ultimately, Cal Poly. Students from all majors seek his input and advice relative to enterprise project questions and concerns. He is devoted and loyal. Launnie is always a willing participant in any and all activities that will show this university, college or department in a positive light. He always does it with a heartfelt smile and willingness to set aside his project to help others.
Ray Kisch has been an Instructional Technology Lab Coordinator and part-time adjunct in the Orfalea College of Business since 2011. Before coming to California, Ray and his family lived in South Africa where he worked in packaging and led his own company. Today, he goes well above and beyond his job description to create the best learning experiences for our students, and support our faculty in Industrial Technology and Packaging. Ray is as dependable as the rising sun – which is appreciated by both faculty and staff. He worked extensively with his student teams on the Cal Poly Design Village winning the People's Choice Award in 2015. With ease and a smile on his face, he ensures that all of Orfalea's industrial technology and packaging labs are in top shape for student and faculty projects. His expertise spans plastics processing, material testing, packaging design and prototyping (including 3D printing), packaging dynamics, and metal machining and manufacturing. Ray is an industry pro with an emphasis on Cal Poly's Learn by Doing philosophy. He often plays a critical role as an ambassador, explaining the basics of industrial technology or packaging to faculty and staff from other disciplines.
Campus Health and Wellbeing
Alex has dedicated 8 years to Campus Health and Wellbeing. She works tirelessly to maintain awareness of hundreds of different deadlines and assessment criteria with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. She is a loyal member of her department with a strong work ethic and personal integrity. Alex is the glue that holds all of the departments within Campus Health and Wellbeing together. She confirms all medical and mental health professionals are properly credentialed and licenses are current. In addition, she verifies the department is up to date with a myriad of requirements for accreditation and safety-related standards. She assists with all hiring and human resource-related issues and assures that key meetings flow smoothly. Alex is organized and provides a high level of support to her department. Alex is a natural leader within Campus Health and Wellbeing.
